Teenage Cool Kids

Teenage Cool Kids are a band from Denton, TX, specifically the thriving beatnik vicinity of Panhandle Heights. The quartet blends nihilistic lyrics about the detachment of college town life with catchy hooks and triumphant choruses.They are today’s answer to pop punk. Their latest release Foreign Lands is a lot like their debut release Queer Salutations except this fills in every crevasse and crack Queer Salutations had.

Every song has about 10 different melodies crammed in and making it poppier than ever. The only track that differs from everything else is the title track, “Foreign Lands”; it’s about five minutes and the melody is more dark.Hyper-melodicism is a huge strength of this album. The guitar riffs are technical and represent songs using just about as many notes the guitarist can cram into the songs.

Foreign Lands would be considered their more “developed” release at the moment.. It’s more consistent and the songs fit together like legos. Overall, I highly recommend it to anyone really. It’s quite accessible.
